As with all our city streets, how can we make Avent Ferry more of a connector, and less of a divider?
Avent Ferry Road is a unique and important connector road in our city. Stretching from Tryon Road, just south of I-40, all the way to Western Boulevard, it passes Lake Johnson Park, single family residential neighborhoods, student housing, small scale commercial and retail, NCSU centennial campus, and NCSU main campus.
“Streets for People: Avent Ferry Road” will be a panel discussion event aimed at describing existing conditions for Avent Ferry Road, and discussing future changes related to pedestrian, bicycle, vehicular, and other means of transportation. A primary goal is to achieve safe, friendly pedestrian and bike connections to the surrounding neighborhoods, NCSU campus, and beyond. We will also discuss alternative transit systems which are being considered for centennial campus in connection with the Smart Cities challenge at NC State.
